Hijri to Gregorian

The converter uses the Umm al-Qura calendar, the official calendar of Saudi Arabia, published by the Umm al-Qura calendar authority. Where your country or mosque starts each month after a local moon sighting, the date can be one day later, so the tool also shows the date if the month starts a day later. It converts Gregorian dates from 1938 to 2076 and Hijri years 1357 to 1499 AH.

Questions

How do I convert a Hijri date to Gregorian?

Pick the Hijri day, month and year in the converter above. For example, 1 Ramadan 1448 is Monday, 8 February 2027 in the Umm al-Qura calendar. Where Ramadan starts after a local moon sighting, it can be one day later.

What Hijri year is it now?

1448 AH. It began on Tuesday, 16 June 2026 and has 355 days, so 1 Muharram 1449 (Islamic New Year) is expected on Sunday, 6 June 2027.

How many days are in a Hijri year?

A Hijri year has 12 lunar months of 29 or 30 days, so it has 354 or 355 days. That is about 11 days shorter than a Gregorian year, which is why Ramadan and Eid move about 11 days earlier every year.

Why do converters give different dates?

Some converters use the tabular (arithmetic) Islamic calendar, which can differ from Umm al-Qura by a day. Many countries also start each month only after the crescent moon is sighted locally. So two correct answers can be one day apart.

Can I estimate the Gregorian year from a Hijri year?

Yes: Gregorian year ≈ Hijri year × 0.970229 + 621.5643. For 1448 that gives 2026.5, which means the year runs across 2026 and 2027.
