These are the 11 gazetted public holidays published by the Ministry of Manpower, so every date is official, including Hari Raya Puasa, Hari Raya Haji, Vesak Day and Deepavali. When a holiday falls on a Sunday, the Monday after is a public holiday. When it falls on a Saturday, there is no automatic substitute weekday holiday: on a 5-day week you get another day off or an extra day's salary instead (MOM: entitlement and pay).

Who celebrates each holiday

Singapore's public holidays follow five calendars: the Gregorian calendar for New Year, Labour Day, National Day and Christmas, the Chinese lunisolar calendar for Chinese New Year, the Islamic calendar for the two Hari Raya, and the Buddhist and Hindu lunar calendars for Vesak and Deepavali. Good Friday follows the date of Easter. MOM publishes each year's dates months in advance (the 2027 list came out on 18 June 2026), so the religious holidays are fixed long before the day, unlike countries that wait for a moon sighting.

Holidays on a weekend in 2027

7 of the 11 public holidays fall on a weekday in 2027. One falls on a Sunday, which adds a Monday holiday: Monday 8 February for Chinese New Year. 3 fall on a Saturday (Chinese New Year, 6 Feb; Labour Day, 1 May; Christmas Day, 25 Dec). There is no automatic substitute weekday holiday for these Saturdays: if you work Monday to Friday and are covered by the Employment Act, each one gives you another day off or an extra day's salary at your gross rate of pay.

Fasting times for the month before Hari Raya Puasa are in the Singapore Ramadan timetable 2027.

Questions

How many public holidays are there in Singapore in 2027?

There are 11 gazetted public holidays in 2027. Including the Monday holidays for those that fall on a Sunday, 8 holiday dates fall on weekdays.

When is Hari Raya Puasa 2027 in Singapore?

Wednesday, 10 March 2027. It is a gazetted public holiday, so the date is final. MUIS (the Islamic Religious Council of Singapore) fixes it in advance by astronomical calculation for Singapore, which makes it one day after Saudi Arabia's Umm al-Qura calendar, which puts Eid ul-Fitr on Tuesday 9 March.

When is Hari Raya Haji 2027 in Singapore?

Monday, 17 May 2027, a gazetted public holiday. That is one day after Saudi Arabia's Umm al-Qura calendar, which puts Eid ul-Adha (10 Dhu al-Hijjah) on Sunday 16 May.

Is Chinese New Year 2027 a two-day holiday in Singapore?

Yes. The first and second days of Chinese New Year are both public holidays: Saturday 6 February and Sunday, 7 February 2027. The second day is a Sunday, so Monday 8 February is a public holiday too if Sunday is your rest day.

What happens when a public holiday falls on a weekend in Singapore?

If it falls on a Sunday (your rest day), the next working day is a paid public holiday, which is usually the Monday. If it falls on a Saturday and you work a 5-day week, Saturday is a non-working day, so the Employment Act gives you either another day off or one extra day's salary at the gross rate of pay. Employees not covered by the Employment Act follow their contract.

Do you get paid extra for working on a public holiday in Singapore?

If you are covered by the Employment Act and the public holiday falls on one of your normal working days, your employer pays you an extra day's salary at the basic rate of pay on top of your monthly salary. By mutual agreement you can take a replacement holiday on another working day instead. Different rules apply when the holiday falls on your rest day or non-working day: see MOM's public holiday pay rules.

When is Deepavali 2027 in Singapore?

Thursday, 28 October 2027. Singapore follows the South Indian (Tamil) almanac, which marks Deepavali on Naraka Chaturdashi, so it is a day before North Indian Diwali (Lakshmi Puja), which is on Friday 29 October.

Are these Singapore holiday dates official?

Dates marked Confirmed come from the official source listed below. Dates marked Expected follow the usual rules and are updated when the government announces the final dates.
