Working Days Calculator
Count the working days between two dates, or find the date that is a number of working days away. The calculator takes out weekends and public holidays for the UK, the US, the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, for any date in 2026 or 2027.
Both the start and end dates are counted. When you add working days, the start date is not counted, and a negative number counts backwards. Holidays come from the official lists: GOV.UK bank holidays, US OPM federal holidays, the UAE Government portal, Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Human Resources (Labour Law) and Pakistan's Cabinet Division. Islamic holidays are expected dates until they are announced after the moon sighting.

For the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan the totals use the calculated Umm al-Qura dates for Islamic holidays, where official dates are not yet confirmed. Confirmed dates, and the extra days off Saudi employers give when an Eid day falls on the weekend, can change these totals. Worked examples
- UK, December 2026: December has 23 weekdays. Christmas Day is Friday 25 December and Boxing Day falls on a Saturday, so its substitute day is Monday 28 December. 23 − 2 = 21 working days in England and Wales.
- US, 10 business days after Wednesday 18 November 2026: count Thursday 19 to Wednesday 25 November (5 days), skip Thanksgiving on Thursday 26 November, then Friday 27 November to Thursday 3 December (5 more). The answer is Thursday, 3 December 2026.
- Saudi Arabia, March 2027: March has 23 Sunday-to-Thursday days. The 4-day private-sector Eid al-Fitr break starts the day after 29 Ramadan, so it is expected from Tuesday 9 March to Friday 12 March. 3 of those days are working days, which leaves 20 working days. Friday 12 March is a weekend day, and under the Labour Law rules the employer gives an equal day off before or after the break, which brings March to 19 working days once that day off is given.
Questions
How do I count working days between two dates?
Enter the first and last day in the calculator. It counts both dates, takes out the weekend days and then takes out the public holidays that fall on a working day. What is left is the number of working days (business days).
How many working days are there in 2027 in the UK?
England and Wales have 253 working days in 2027: 261 weekdays minus the 8 bank holidays. Scotland has 252 and Northern Ireland 251, because they have different bank holidays.
Is the start date counted when I add working days?
No. Adding 1 working day to a Friday gives the next Monday (if Monday is not a holiday). Example: 10 US business days after Wednesday 18 November 2026 is Thursday, 3 December 2026, because Thanksgiving (26 November) is skipped.
Are working days and business days the same?
Yes, the two terms are used for the same thing: the days except the weekend and public holidays. Working weeks vary by employer, though. The calculator starts with Sunday to Thursday for Saudi Arabia and Monday to Friday for the UK, US, UAE and Pakistan, and you can pick a different working week.
Does the calculator include Eid?
Yes, for the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan. It uses the Umm al-Qura calendar to estimate Islamic holidays, marked Expected until they are officially announced. In Saudi Arabia the private-sector Eid al-Fitr break starts the day after 29 Ramadan in the Umm al-Qura calendar. In Pakistan the moon-sighting committee can start Eid a day later; the calculator counts that possible extra day as a working day and lists it so you can allow for it.
